Trade me an axe? Interpretive challenges of the distribution and provenance of Neolithic basaltic bifacial tools in Israel

The discovery of a Neolithic quarry and production site for basanite bifacial tools at Giv�at Kipod in Israel has provided new insights into these socially significant artefacts. Geochemical analysis of material from the quarry distinguishes it from other basaltic rock sources in Israel, allowing stone tools from a variety of sites and dated contexts to be assigned a provenance. Results suggest that Giv�at Kipod was an important production centre for over several millennia. It operated primarily on a local, regional level and independently of the parallel manufacture-and-distribution mechanisms of flint bifacials. A Collective Binomial Learning Methodology

In second-language learning, learners frequently have a poor environment for speaking and hearing the target language. Learning efficiency is thus limited. We propose a methodology involving the creation of temporary social structures. Collective interactions fed back among individuals and environment are constructed on a computer and practiced in a real world. A dynamic learning system which coherently ties together the practitioner’s design, the learner’s performance and the researcher’s theories is possible. Our results call for language learning structures to include adaptive spoken structures, in contrast with existing educational systems.

The general aim of an anthropology may be said to be the determination of man's characteristics in his environment. In social anthropology, however, the trend has been to emphasise the environment at the expense of man. The present article argues that a similar tendency prevails in theology's typical description of man as a ‘hearer’ of the Word of God and finds illuminating parallels in Berger and Luckmann's sociology of knowledge. [EN] The sociological imagination (Wright Mills, 1993) is fundamental in the teaching profession. It is not possible to understand individuals’ actions of the different education agents without knowing their place in the social structure. The objective of this proposal is that the students of the Degree in Preschool Education (University of Valencia) achieve this point of view. The project starts with a flipped classroom methodology in combination with other active methodologies to end contrasting scientific knowledge with the daily teacher’s work, through the realization and analyses of interviews.

The societies of Isoptera and Hymenoptera differ in two general features. 1. The termite societies are bisexual. From a primitive symmetry between both sexes, many asymmetries appeared during the course of their evolution. These asymmetries are related either to a sexual dimorphism, or a biased sex ratio, or both, and are differently expressed in the separate castes of a given species. 2. The hemimetabolous development allows a termite to take part in the social tasks before the end of its postembryonic development, and even to reproduce at a larval stage (neoteny).
